Hardware Engineer

Based in the Central Belt, my client develops world leading monitoring systems for the global security industry. The company have been at the forefront of this field for some considerable time and are central to many of their client’s strategies for dealing with crime and terrorism. Working for the Head of Product Development, you will participate in the development, testing, prototyping and transition of product from design to manufacturing to installation at scale and training and support of other technical groups.

Production and updating of technical documentation for the various phases of the product portfolio lifecycle.

The Electronics Engineer is responsible for providing technical service and support to NDI-RS clientele by delivering a professional, skilled and well-mannered service.

Principle roles and responsibilities

  • Responsible for sustainment and maintenance of our current and future hardware systems from an engineering standpoint
  • Provide technical input as part of overall solution from R&D through ongoing production
  • Support manufacturing teams, installation teams and support teams
  • Develop Technical documentation e.g. technical file, assembly & test and site commissioning
  • Prepare and present ECR (Engineering Change Request) submissions to product change control board
  • Direct hardware programming of embedded microprocessors
  • Prototyping – electronics, mechanical and software integration
  • Design & build of test jigs.
  • Troubleshooting to component level & repair.
  • May be required to go on site/work outdoors occasionally
  • Manage, maintain and record work assignments to ensure they are achieved within business required timescales
  • Communicate with line management on a frequent basis as to the status of outstanding works held under your responsibility
  • Prioritise work as instructed to enable accurate planning for all tasks. In the absence of such instruction use own expertise and knowledge of the customer requirements to prioritise work
  • Proactively manage own material, equipment holding and expedite replacements
  • Where required ensure documentation is updated after every issue or engineering change is completed and that new issues are logged using the systems and processes you are directed to employ.

Salary: £30,000.00 to £45,000.00 /year
